Where LeanFPS vs Radiant Optimizer really differ

Price and licence

Both are one payment with no subscription. Radiant Optimizer Premium is $57.77 for one PC, with the licence tied to your motherboard, and its terms say all sales are final. LeanFPS Pro is $19 for up to three PCs with a 14-day refund. The catch is the download: both can be bought today, but LeanFPS is still early access by email until the first signed public release. See LeanFPS pricing.

What you get for free

Radiant Optimizer Free is the wider toolbox: a PC scan, eight starter tweaks, network and input tests and restore tools. LeanFPS Free is narrower and focused on games: it detects the game you start, applies five core tweaks and measures FPS in every session, and the first three games you play get every Pro tweak so you can compare. Neither free version has a time limit.

Proof

Neither maker promises a number of frames, and both label their home page demos as simulated. The difference is what happens on your PC. LeanFPS records average FPS, 1% and 0.1% lows per session and compares them with your usual, so a tweak that does nothing shows up as nothing. Radiant Optimizer Premium has a performance overlay, but does not say how it measures or whether it keeps 1% lows. Read how LeanFPS measures FPS.

Size and safety

LeanFPS is a single file of about 6.5 MB; the Radiant Optimizer v7.0.4 installer is 194 MB. LeanFPS never changes Defender, Memory Integrity, Windows Update or firewall settings, and saves the real previous value before every change. Our Radiant Optimizer alternative page covers what we found in an older Radiant installer, and five other tools.

Should you pick LeanFPS vs Radiant Optimizer?

Pick Radiant Optimizer if you want hardware monitoring, network tests, CPU and NVIDIA controls in one app and are fine with a final sale. Pick LeanFPS if you want a small app that tunes the game you are playing, proves the result with your own FPS numbers and can undo every change, and you can wait for the public release. You can also try both free versions, one at a time, and compare your 1% lows.

LeanFPS vs Radiant Optimizer FAQ

Is LeanFPS cheaper than Radiant Optimizer?

LeanFPS Pro is $19 once at the early-bird price ($29 after the public release), against $57.77 once for Radiant Optimizer Premium. Both have a free version and neither is a subscription.

Which is better, LeanFPS or Radiant Optimizer?

Radiant Optimizer does more things: hardware monitoring, network and input tests, CPU and NVIDIA controls. LeanFPS does fewer things and measures them: it records FPS and 1% lows every session so you can see whether a tweak helped on your PC, and it never changes security settings. If you want the toolbox, Radiant fits. If you want proof and a small app, LeanFPS fits.

Do LeanFPS and Radiant Optimizer guarantee more FPS?

No. Radiant Optimizer’s FAQ says it cannot guarantee FPS, ping or hit registration, and LeanFPS does not promise a number either. Both depend on your hardware, your game and your starting settings.

Can I run LeanFPS and Radiant Optimizer together?

We do not recommend it. Both change the power plan and process priority, so they would undo each other. Undo changes in one before you start the other.
